Working – A husband’s poem

My hands are now trembling

Amid all the tasks assembling

Prolonged by coffee and cream

Yet tired and longing to dream

From black to calming white

From day to spreading night

I want to know what is today

Was there a moon yesterday?

I keenly want to go out and play

To wander in the fields and lay

To count the clouds in the sky

Chase them as they easily fly

But I don’t want you to dismay

For my vow must never stray

My only reason for serving

To show that I am truly deserving

Amid all the daily grind of life

So fortunate to have you as wife
